director since 2026 of the Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, joined the institution in 2015 as curator and head of the department of sculpture and decorative arts, becoming senior curator of European and American art in 2022. His principal exhibitions include Alonso Berruguete: First Sculptor of Renaissance Spain (2019–2020) and Canova: Sketching in Clay (2023–2024).

Previously, he was curator of European art at the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth for eight years. He earned a PhD in art history from the Institute of Fine Arts at New York University.
