Alberto Salvadori

In 2019, Alberto Salvadori founded ICA Milano, of which he is director. Since 2021, he has been Director of the Mulas Archive, and since 2023, he has curated the Multiples section at Arte Fiera Bologna. He graduated in Art History from the University of Pisa and also obtained a postgraduate diploma in Modern and Contemporary European Art History in Pisa. He studied at Sussex University (UK), Reading University (UK) and in 2001 he obtained a Master’s degree in Curatorial Studies from the Brera Academy (Milan). From 2003 to 2009 he was curator of the General Catalogue of the Gallery of Modern Art at Palazzo Pitti (Florence); from 2009 to 2016 he was Artistic Director of the Marino Marini Museum (Florence); from 2016 to 2022 he curated the Modern and Decades section of MIART; from 2007 to 2020 he was Director of the Observatory for Contemporary Arts at the Fondazione CR in Florence.

He has created exhibition projects for the Archaeological Museum of Bologna, Madre Napoli, Mart Rovereto, the Strozzi Foundation of Florence, the Rooms of Photography of Venice, CCA Montreal, the Ibereè Camargo Porto Alegre Foundation, the State Art Gallery, the Museo du Casa Brasilera and CCBB in São Paulo, CCBB Rio de Janeiro, and the Italian Art Cold Spring Warehouse in New York. He is a member of the scientific committee of the Pomodoro Foundation, Milan, and of the Luigi Pecci Center for Contemporary Art, Prato. He has served on the boards of numerous institutions, including the Civic Museums Institution of Bologna, Polimoda (Florence), the Ragghianti Foundation (Lucca), the Pomodoro Foundation (Milan), Magazzino Italian art (Cold Spring, NYC) and the Italian Council (Rome). Among the exhibitions curated are those by Morandi, Mario Schifano, Marino Marini, Bruno Munari, Ugo Mulas, Pietro Consagra, Ettore Spalletti, Gordon Matta Clarck, Lynn Chadwick, Hans Josephson, Andrea Zittel, Liam Gillick, Simone Fattal, Charles Atlas, Simone Forti, Miriam Cahn, Tomoo Gokita, Erika Verzutti, Christine Safa, Leda Catunda, Michael Anastassiades, Formafantasma, Jasper Morrison. He writes for Il Giornale dell’arte and teaches at Polimoda Firenze.
