has been assistant curator of Northern European painting at the National Gallery of Art since 2023, where he handles the acquisition, study, and exhibition of German, Austrian, Franco-Flemish, and Netherlandish paintings of the 15th and 16th centuries. He previously was a David E. Finley Fellow at the museum's Center for Advanced Study in the Visual Arts, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Bern, and a fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florence and the Berlin State Museums. He earned his PhD in art history and medieval studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
