Antonio Mancinelli

Journalist, essayist, university lecturer and curator, Antonio Mancinelli began his career covering local news in Rome for Corriere della Sera. Since then, he has approached fashion as an aesthetic, social, cultural and political phenomenon. He is currently a fashion and lifestyle columnist for QN, La Nazione, Il Giorno and Il Resto del Carlino, as well as fashion consultant for Linkiesta Etc and a leading contributor to Amica and The Collector. Editor-in-chief of Marie Claire until 2021, he has written for Vogue, D, la Repubblica delle Donne, iO Donna, La Repubblica, Il Foglio, La Stampa, Panorama, Diario, Elle, Vanity Fair, Il Sole 24 Ore and Style. He also contributes to Lucy sulla cultura and C’è vita su MArte. He directed the bookazine Carnale and has written and hosted programmes for Radio Tre. He teaches at IULM University, at Accademia Costume & Moda in Rome and Milan, where he is also a member of the Scientific Committee, and at the Unidee Academy of Fondazione Pistoletto. He previously taught at the University of Bologna. In 2018, he was appointed to the MiBAC Study Commission dedicated to the protection and promotion of Italian fashion as cultural heritage. He has contributed critical essays and served in scholarly roles for exhibitions including Il nuovo vocabolario della moda italiana, Rick Owens. Subhuman, Inhuman, Superhuman, Italiana. L’Italia vista dalla moda, Romanzo breve di moda maschile, Mr & Mrs Clark and Walter Albini. Il talento, lo stilista. He is also among the curators of Sneaker Revolution, opening in November at the Museo del Tessuto in Prato, the first major exhibition in Italy dedicated to the evolution of sneakers. His books include Moda! (Sperling & Kupfer), Antonio Marras (Marsilio), Fashion Box (Contrasto), L’arte dello styling (Vallardi) and Ma chi l’avrebbe detto?! (La Nave di Teseo). Born in Rome, he lives and works in Milan. In March 2027, his first novel will be published, after more than forty years spent observing that reality already possesses a considerable talent for storytelling.
