A selection of key works by the London-based artist duo is currently on display at the Sonnabend Collection Mantova. Almost twenty years on from their last solo exhibition in Italy, artistic director and curator Mario Codognato explains why Gilbert & George’s work remains as relevant as ever

Highly appreciated by the collector Ileana Sonnabend, Gilbert & George are the focus of the exhibition hosted at the Palazzo della Ragione in Mantua, as part of the new museum dedicated to the famous collection. We were guided through the galleries of the Sonnabend Collection Mantova by Mario Codognato, artistic director and curator of the exhibition.
