On the occasion of the XXV Olympic Games and the XIV Paralympic Winter Games 2026, from 31 January to 15 March 2026 Noventa di Piave Designer Outlet welcomes and hosts the most significant images from the book “Cortina 1956 – le prime Olimpiadi bianche in Italia”, published by Marsilio Arte and Fondazione Cortina, authored by Massimo Spampani. This decision stems from the McArthurGlen group’s desire to celebrate and share with its visitors the joy of hosting an event in Veneto of such great social, sporting, economic, and cultural significance for the entire region. A tribute to history and, at the same time, a bridge to the future.

Cortina d’Ampezzo returns to being an Olympic city after seventy years. In 1956, it hosted the VII Winter Olympic Games, an event that marked the first major recognition of snow and ice sports in the Italian Alps: a moment of rebirth and national pride that helped shape Cortina’s cultural identity, transforming it into one of the world’s winter sports capitals.

Today the Olympics return, this time together with Milan, for the 2026 Games, in a profoundly different context: from the 32 nations of 1956 to the 93 expected, from the 24 competions to the current 195, from 820 athletes to over 3,500. Not just a passing of the baton, but a real momentous leap.

The 1956 Games give us the chance to pause for a moment to remember, to reflect, to dream. To understand where we started, where we have arrived, and where we are goin

Massimo Spampani
That Olympic adventure will remain in the memory as a great event on a human scale, perfectly organized and capable of moving an entire country. Now it is up to a new spotlight to give us other emotions, different but equally meaningful, in the spirit of a tradition that continues to renew itself.
